The plane left Arlanda yesterday at 12.55 and after just one stop in Helsinki on the way did I land in Hanoi 06.40 local time, 01.40 Swedish time. It's a good thing that they have lot's of entertainment choices on these long flight's everything from movies, music, news, TV-series and so on cause I did't get many hours sleep during the flight.
The flight was a bit bumpy at times but we landed safe and sound at the airport, were everything went smooth and fast until picking up the bag, well actually nothing went wrong it just took a long time and after i got my bag i went to take a cab, i ended up taking a mini-bus some backpackers it was really fun but.... this town and it's traffic....

Lucky me got a window seat at the way from the airport, so during the time I wasn't wondering where we were or how the cars could drive here you could see a bit of Hanoi.
First impression was that they are building a lot, there are scooters every where, cows just walking free by the roads and gosh it's warm.
I don't know really what i was expecting but i don't think it was this. you can tell that it's a developing country that's growing but by the first look they still have some way to go. Not to say that the small market places and food shops on the streets aren't nice but I need to build up some courage to get out on the streets and avoid getting run over by a scooter.

Well after this kind of crazy cab trip through want felt like a big part of Hanoi (probably wasn't) I was dropped of at my Hotel. Where they wasn't really finished for me so made a attempt to walk around on the streets, but just ended up going in circles back to the hotel so decided to sit in the sofa by the fan until the room was ready. so at 9.45 local time could i check in to my room and i just went straight and crashed on the bed. It's not the biggest room, but the really nice people in the reception said that i was going to change room to a bigger one after 2 nights, but there is nothing wrong with this room only boring thing is that the window only show a stair.

Well the time is 15.30 here and I'm thinking I might go for a walk, trying not to get completely lost.

Landed

The first goodbye and the first part of this adventure are done, this afternoon after traditional breakfast, "fika" with friends, contract signing, voting and goodbyes did the plane leave Luleå for the next 10 weeks. First stop is Stockholm just staying at my parents to relax and prepare until Saturday when the long flight to Vietnam starts.

Talking about preparing, until yesterday everything had gone my way, no bumps in the road. So shouldn't be to surprised that it came a small bump yesterday. That luckily is fixed today but i kind of feel sorry for some of the people that had to meet me yesterday afternoon. But that's the thing with these travels there will be bumps in the road everything won't always go your way but in the end it will always be okay. For me it kind of went for the better since I can't come to the hospital in Hanoi until Wednesday i will have few days to get to know the town and hopefully get rid of the probable jet-lag.

The first goodbye

It's less then a week left to this big adventure and I have really started counting down the days. It feels a bit like i have two countdowns, on Thursday I will go to Stockholm so until then i have to have finished everything up here in Luleå, all the packing, preparations, the goodbyes.
And then the second countdown is until Saturday when I'm actually boarding the plane to Vietnam. It will be two days just walking around and waiting in Stockholm, think i have to come up with something to do does days otherwise will i go insane just waiting.

In some ways I'm more nervous about the first one when it's time to leave Luleå. I know ten weeks aren't that long and they will go so fast and that's a bit scary in it's own. But I don't like goodbyes and there is a lot of people that i would like to say bye to before i go but unfortunately the time is not on my side so it will be a big goodbye to everyone at once on Wednesday.

In a way i think that this trip and and the countdown are making me so nervous not only because of the trip/adventure but also because i know that when i come back (if everything goes as planed) I only have two months left on physiotherapist program before graduation so it's kind of the beginning of the end of this chapter.

I haven't startet packing the bag to take with me to Hanoi yet but i have started packing down my room in the apartment. We are gonna rent it out when im away. But i have so much stuff so it takes forever to back and I think it's so boring backing down in boxes. I wonder how i will feel on Thursday and everything is packed and im going to Stockholm?
